The Northeastern Wisconsin Antique Power Association (NEWAPA), home of the Valmy Thresheree, has several opportunities for grounds clean up prior to events on our 40 acre property. Work consists of clean up inside various buildings as well as the grounds.

This opportunity is on June 14, 2025, plus future dates to be determined.

This opportunity is appropriate for adults, high school students and those needing to fulfill community service requirements.

Crossroads at Big Creek-Sturgeon Bay-Crossroads Trail Run & Walk Volunteers

The trail run takes a team of volunteers to make possible.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Door County and The Boys & Girls Club of Door County are teaming up for a brand-new mentoring program: The Big Club! Mentors (Bigs) join the fun that kids (Littles) are having at the Boys & Girls Club on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 4:00-5:00pm. Matches enjoy facilitated games and activities that promote STEM and academics, social and emotional learning, and creativity… all while having a blast with fun and unique experiences!

Who are Bigs? Bigs are adults 18+ who want to have a positive impact on their community. They are young adults, working professionals, and retirees who are looking to connect with a child and be a kid again themselves!

Who are Littles? Littles are the coolest kids around. They are youngsters, tweens, and teens who are asking for a mentor and looking for an adult to spend time with!

Cycling Without Age Door County – Various Locations – Trishaw Pilots

We train interested volunteers annually to pilot our trishaws. Training will take place on Saturday, May 17th at the Kane Center in Fish Creek from 9 am until noon. You will learn our various protocols as well as become familiar with and experience piloting our trishaws. Pilots need to be compassionate adults at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Friends of Plum & Pilot Islands-Gills Rock-Boat Crew

The Friends of Plum & Pilot Islands owns and operates the 17 passenger tour boat “The Shoreline” out of Gills Rock. The profits from the operation of The Shoreline go directly to support the preservation of the historic buildings on Plum and Pilot Islands. We are looking for anyone who loves being on the water. We need several volunteer crew members. Duties include helping with docking and departing, answering guest questions , light clean up and being knowledgeable about safety procedures. There are no set hours. As cruises are booked, you will be asked if you are available for that cruise. Most times there is several weeks notice, but sometimes it can be one day notice. As a Coast Guard regulated boat, drug testing is required. We will train.

Door County Maritime Museum-Sturgeon Bay-Docent – Tug John Purves

Share the story of the historic tug John Purves! Tug docents lead small group tours through the tug, sharing information about the operation and life aboard the tug. Information and training are provided, you just need to be willing to speak to groups of up to 15 people. The tug is open May 1-October 31, and shift lengths of 3 hours or 6 hours are available. Volunteers can choose a regular schedule or volunteer sporadically.
