Safety, Quality & Financial Stewardship
At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Santiam, the safety of every child, the quality of every program, and the responsible use of every dollar are at the heart of everything we do.

Protecting Every Child, Every Day
Safety
The safety and wellbeing of the young people we serve is our number one priority. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior and uphold the highest national standards for child protection.
Our safety measures include:
- Comprehensive background checks for all staff, board members, and volunteers, renewed annually through First Advantage
- Mandatory abuse prevention training such as Darkness to Light and annual CPR/First Aid certification
- Strict supervision policies that prohibit one-on-one, unsupervised interactions
- Immediate reporting requirements for any safety concern or incident to both local authorities and Boys & Girls Clubs of America
- Annual safety assessments to identify and address areas for improvement
- Ongoing partnerships with Lebanon and Sweet Home Police Departments, school districts, and national safety organizations
We also have a dedicated Safety Committee that oversees all policies and conducts regular reviews of our facilities, transportation, and training procedures to ensure compliance and best practices.
Elevating Standards Through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers
Quality
As a proud recipient of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Title IV, Part B grant, we are committed to academic excellence, family engagement, and youth development. Through six active CCLC sites, we provide free after-school and summer programs that support academic success, encourage creativity, and strengthen family involvement.
Our quality initiatives include:
- Ongoing evaluation through the Continuous Quality Improvement Process (CQIP)
- Annual caregiver and student surveys to assess satisfaction and outcomes
- Public reports such as the Local Evaluation Report and Action Plans that guide progress
- Regular dissemination of data to parents, staff, and partners to ensure transparency
These tools help us refine programming and maintain accountability so that every child benefits from high-quality experiences that promote growth and learning.
